ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - The Humane Society of Missouri Animal Cruelty Task Force is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who bludgeoned a kitten to death in north St. Louis city.
According to the Human Society, the Animal Cruelty Task Force received a call on August 1 from a north St. Louis resident about a kitten she found dead on her sidewalk near the intersection of Newby and Riverview.
The woman told the Animal Cruelty Task Force that she had been feeding the stray kitten and came home to find it in a pool of blood. A nearby rock is believed to have been used to kill the kitten.
Humane Society veterinary staff estimated the male kitten was about eight weeks old and its injuries were consistent with blunt trauma to the head.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the Humane Society of Missouri Animal Cruelty Hotline at 314-647-4400. Tips will be turned over to St. Louis City Police and the St. Louis County Prosecutor's Office for possible prosecution.
