FARMINGTON, Mo. (AP) - An eastern Missouri woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for trying to hire a hit man to kill her estranged husband.
The Daily Journal newspaper in Park Hills, Mo. reports that 39-year-old Annette Burnia of Park Hills was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to attempted second-degree murder.
Prosecutors say Burnia solicited a relative to kill her husband, but instead, he contacted police. An undercover officer posed as a hit man and Burnia paid him $200 to kill her husband, Kevin. She also promised to give the hit man her husband's boat and NASCAR collection.
