Callaway County Nuclear Plant
CALLAWAY COUNTY, Mo. (KSDK) - The Callaway Energy Center is back in service after an electrical fault late last month.
The center was taken out of service July 26 while repairs were made. A spokesperson for Ameren Missouri says the fault was on the main electrical power cables exiting the plant. An arc was caused by a ventilation louver that came undone and became close to electrical cables.
The result was a local arc flash. Major equipment did not need to be replaced. Other power plants supplied power to the grid while the center was out of service.
Approximately 20 percent of electricity supplied to Ameren Missouri customers comes from the Callaway Energy Center.
