KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KSHB/CNN) - An attack on Texas family at a Kansas City gas station led to a hit and run, and it was all caught on tape.
It turns out the ones who were hit are now being charged, and it's because the incident was caught on a surveillance camera.
A family pulled into the gas station at Linwood and Indiana around 4 p.m. Monday. You can see in the surveillance video two men walk up to the white ford focus and start to attack.
At one point one of the attackers jumps through the front of the car, all while a child is in the back seat.
One neighbor said there have been several incidents at this particular gas station, but nothing like this.
"I've drove through there it's always drama but for some incident like that that's really severe and there was a child in the back seat, so it really made it even worse," said Charmaine Allen.
One man then lunges at the car with a tire iron, and smashes the back windshield. At least one person tried several times to break up the fight.
Finally, the white car got away, peeled around the corner, and smashed right into one of the suspects.
"Well it's my friend, so I kinda feel like, I was scared for him and I felt like I wasn't safe to walk the neighborhood and then it was just kinda like he could have died from that incident, it was petty," said Allen.
The man hit by the car went to the hospital. The family got away with a few scratches.
