ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - St. Louis-based SSM Health Care has merged with a Madison, Wisconsin-based multi-specialty physician group in an effort to improve patient experience.
The merger between SSM Health Care and Dean Health System was finalized and went into effect September 1.
Dean Health Systems, Inc. is a network of more than 60 clinics, Dean Health Plan, Davis Duehr Dean Eye Care, Dean Pharmacy and Navitus Health Solutions.
An SSM Health Care spokesman said the merger is expected lower the overall cost to patients.
SSM and Dean Health System have a more than 100-year business relationship. SSM owns and operates five hospitals in Wisconsin.
