CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (KSDK) - A 13-year-old Champaign, Illinois girl abducted Thursday has been found safe in a Cape Girardeau Wal-Mart, the Champaign Police Department said.
According to Sgt. David Griffet of the Champaign Police Department, the teen was abducted just before 3:25 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, in the 2400 block of Hathaway Drive.
A 21-year-old man has been taken into custody.
Griffet said the teen and man met about a month ago through a family acquaintance.
On Thursday, she used her cell phone to call her mother and said the man had abducted her, Griffet said. That was the last communication anyone has had with the teen prior to her being found.
