CASEYVILLE, Ill. (KSDK) - Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a two-week-old girl in Caseyville Tuesday morning.
At approximately 8 a.m., the girl's parents woke up to find out that the baby wasn't breathing. They were staying at the America's Best Hotel in Caseyville.
Police say they tried to dial 911, but it wasn't working, and so they ran to the parking lot of a nearby Cracker Barrel. Witnesses called 911 and attempted CPR. Officers on the scene took over until paramedics arrived, authorities say.
The infant was later pronounced dead at Belleville Memorial Hospital. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding her death, and are waiting for the coroner to confirm the cause.
