JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KSDK) - Gov. Jay Nixon has appointed a new chairman for the St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission.
Andrew B. Leonard, of Kirkwood, was appointed Friday. He is currently a partner at the law firm of McCarthy, Leonard, Kaemmerer, and is general counsel for the Kirkwood School District.
For six years in the 1990s Leonard served on the St. Louis Regional Convention and Sports Complex Authority.
"We look forward to working with Andy and getting his thoughts on how we can build on the impressive momentum our hospitality community is experiencing," said Kitty Ratcliffe, president of the CVC.
The St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission is made up of 11 members. Five are selected by the mayor, five by the St. Louis County executive, and one by the governor.
Leonard is set to serve a two-year term ending September 19, 2015.
The CVC's previous chairman, Robert O'Loughlin, announced his resignation Thursday.
