RIVERVIEW, Mo. (KSDK) - Riverview police are investigating the events that led to bullets hitting the Riverview Fire Protection District Fire House.
The firehouse got caught in the crossfire of what one witness told police may have been an attempted drive by shooting up the street at the corner of Diamond and Chambers.
This happened around 9 p.m. Wednesday. Chief Joe Bommarito says at least two bullets went through the windows of the front office.
"There were three firefighters on duty. Fortunately for us and for the community, none of them were injured at all," he said. "It's an unfortunate thing, I'll just say it that way. We have all the faith in our local police department that they'll investigate and hopefully be able to determine exactly who was involved and it can come to closure."
The chief says he doesn't think the bullets were intended for anyone inside and wants the people they serve to know all is well.
"We'll continue to do everything that we can to provide the best services that we can to our community. We don't want them to be concerned because of an incident that took place that our services will be jeopardized. That's not the case whatsoever," he said.
The incident is under investigation.
