ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Looking out at the crowd Thursday afternoon near Busch Stadium you would never guess it was a day for school and work.

The area was a sea of red surrounding the stadium for several hours leading up to game 1 of the NLDS. There was a pep rally where the new Ballpark Village is going up, and we found some people who didn't even have tickets who came downtown just to get in on the festivities. Joe Fingerhut didn't have a seat, but decided to head downtown and pass out free balloon animals.
"I just want to be a part of everything. So I brought down some balloons, I'm giving them away. My sign says free for cardinals fans," said Fingerhut.

Those who did have tickets traveled from all across the area and even the country for the game. After the victory, fans told us the trip was well worth it. And while many said they were excited about the win, they also said they weren't surprised. In fact, the majority of people we spoke to say they're confident the Redbirds will make it all the way to the World Series this year.
