Few are more famous than gumbo, which originated in Southern Louisiana during the 18th century. And you can't do a segment on gumbo without one of our area's best chefs to walk us through it.
Tom Coghill is the owner of Iron Barley restaurant at on Virginia in South St. Louis. He's going to compete in the World Championship Gumbo Cookoff in Louisiana next weekend.

Everyone is invited to the big Bon Voyage party this weekend at Highway 61 Roadhouse in Webster Groves. It's a charity pig roast Saturday, Oct. 5 from 12 p.m. until 6 p.m. It will also be the restaurant's seventh anniversary party. Seven teams will compete by roasting whole hogs. For a $25 donation, guests can enjoy generous samples from each of the teams. Proceeds will go to Six String heroes at Jefferson Barracks and the Adoption Exchange.
