ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - Director of Economic Research for the St. Louis Regional Chamber, Ruth Sergenian, estimates the National League Division Series may have an economic impact on St. Louis around $5.3 million per game.
The total economic impact of the Cardinals playoffs will depend on the number of games played in St. Louis. If they were to go through the World Series, Sergenian estimates that impact would approach $68 million.
The regular baseball season this year drew 3.4 million fans, above the projected attendance of 3.2 million fans. The season's economic impact was $347 million, up from $331 million for the 2012 season.
