(KSDK) - The United States Open golf championship happens later in the week. It will be the best bit of drama on television this weekend. Tiger vs. Phil is not quite Ali-Frazier, but it is quite good.
There is a St. Louisan in the field named Jay Delsing. But there is a local guy not in the field also. His name is Brian Fogt. He is the pro at Old Hickory.
It's amazing he is not good enough to be there this year. Fogt pulverizes the ball. He hits 295-yard drives and he has the touch of a surgeon.
Fogt has played in four U.S. Open events.
"In 1992 at Pebble Beach, I was the first one on the tee. I was so nervous I could barely put it on the tee," said Fogt.
Fogt played on the nation wide tour for three years, and one year he was just three shots away from making it on the PGA Tour.
"I just went back to the Memorial last week. I grew up in Ohio. I used to work in Muirfield Village. I talked to a number of guys who played in the tournament last week. Bart Bryant was the defending champion. He and I are good friends. I feel like there is number of guys out there I can compete with still," said Fogt.
Nobody is doubting that.
