Madison, IL (KSDK)-- A fire that burned for hours on Sunday evening rekindled early Monday in Madison, Illinois.
Firefighters returned to the scene of the fire in the 20-year old business around 3 a.m. They sprayed water on the rekindle, which firefighters said started uner the roof that collapsed.
Witnesses say they first saw thick smoke and lots of flames coming from Madison Foreign and Domestic on Madison Avenue just before 6:00 p.m. Sunday.
Residents said it's owned by a local man who passed the business down to his son. It's been in the area for decades and is considered a local landmark.
The business was closed at the time of the fire. The cause is under investigation. An investigator with the Fire Marshal's office will be at the scene later Monday morning.
