Carlinville, IL (KSDK) - Taxpayers will not pay for the oversized ballots that were provided for the March 20th primary election.

Macoupin County Clerk Pete Duncan made the announcement Friday and says taxpayer money will also not be used to cover the costs associated with extra work to make sure the ballots were counted correctly.

"On Election Day, the printing house was very upfront with taking responsibility for this unprecedented problem that hit dozens of counties across the state," Duncan said. "Part of that responsibility was agreeing to financially credit the County for all the incorrectly sized printed ballots and for the work we put in on Election Day to fix the problem."

Duncan says the agreement will save over $10,000.
