St. Clair County, IL (KSDK) - "Idiots" and 'Beavis and Butthead' were among the descriptions a spokesperson for the St. Clair County Sheriff's Department had for two people suspected in six of seven arsons.

Bryan Boide, 23, of Belleville, and Nicholas Haegele, 19, of O'Fallon, Illinois, were charged in the case. They are held on a $1-million bond.

Capt. Steven Johnson, of the sheriff's department, said there wasn't one thing that connected the pair to the arsons, but they were "idiots and kept dropping stuff" at the scenes.

Over the past few weeks, primarily barns and storage sheds were set on fire around Freeburg, Illinois. They are suspected in six of the seven cases. Evidence from one scene is still under investigation.

A man living in a rural St. Clair County heard a noise and went outside and saw two men. He detained them at gunpoint and walked them over to a neighbor's home. The neighbor called 911 and they were taken into custody.

Capt. Johnson said they interviewed Boide and Haegele and took them back to the scenes.

Capt. Johnson said there did not appear to any rhyme or reason to what the suspects allegedly set on fire.

It was too early to know how much the cost of the damage, but Capt. Johnson estimated it to be between $1-million and $1.5-million.
