James Stufflebean charged with Madison County burglaries

Madison County, IL (KSDK) - A homeless man has been arrested in connection to a series of home burglaries over the last few weeks.

James Stufflebean, 35, has been charged with six felony counts of residential burglary.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office states televisions, electronics, jewelry, money, guns, a barbeque grill, and hand tools were stolen from homes between June 26, 2012 and July 12. The burglaries all occurred during the day while the victims were away.

On Friday, July 13, forensic evidence led investigators to Stufflebean, who was taken into custody later that evening in Granite City for outstanding warrants out of Jersey County, Illinois and St. Louis County.

Many items taken in the burglaries have been recovered.

Bond is set at $150,000.
