CHICAGO (AP) - Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon says Tuesday will officially be The Onion Day in Illinois. And she isn't joking.
The satirical news website and media operation is relocating to Chicago and Simon plans to welcome its staff to town during a fundraiser for the Better Government Association.
The Onion and its sister site, The A.V. Club, will employ about 100 people in its River North-area offices starting in October.
The Onion's editorial staff has been based in New York City with other offices in Madison, Wis.
The Onion has both a website and newspaper. It also produces video content.
