Collinsville, IL (KSDK) - Charges have been filed against a 23-year-old man accused of killing a woman while driving drunk.
Travis S. King of New Douglas, Illinois has been charged with one count of driving with a blood alcohol concentration of .08 or more resulting in death and one count of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol resulting in death.
The accident happened around 8:13 a.m. October 20, 2012. King was allegedly driving eastbound on Interstate 270 near mile post 14 when he rear-ended a pickup truck 62-year-old Geraldine Davis was riding in.
Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the truck, Davis' 27-year-old daughter, Vera Davis, was taken to an area hospital where she was treated and released.
Court documents state witnesses told police King had been driving recklessly at the time and had a BAC of nearly twice the legal limit.
King is in custody at the Madison County Jail and held on a $60,000 bond.
If convicted, King faces between three and 14 years in prison on each charge.
