FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (KSDK) - Two people were arrested Thursday after an altercation at a Best Buy store in Fairview Heights.
Police say they received a call around 12:45 p.m. from the Best Buy store located on Plaza Drive about a customer who hit an employee in the face.
Officers arrived on the scene and learned two customers had been asked for a receipt as they exited the store with merchandise purchased inside the store at a location other than the front checkout lanes.
The female customer yelled obscenities at the victim, a 61-year-old loss prevention officer. Her male friend then hit the loss prevention officer in the face with his open hand.
The victim was knocked to the ground, and witnesses told police the female stood over him and continued to yell obscenities.
Latoya N. Greenwood, 38, and Hickey D. Thompson, 39, were arrested.
Greenwood was issued a citation for disorderly conduct and was released from custody.
Thompson was charged with aggravated battery. His bond is set at $20,000.
The victim was treated at the scene for minor injuries and refused to be transported to a local hospital.
