GLEN CARBON, Ill. (KSDK) - Public works employees with the Village of Glen Carbon have located the water main break causing headaches for residents.
The break was located around noon in an isolated area near Route 157 and Route 162.
Glen Carbon lost approximately two million gallons of water, at one point the village lost every drop of water they had.
The village is hopeful that service will be restored within the next 18 hours. In the event that more time is need for repairs, village officials will keep residents informed through village communication systems and local media.
Glen Carbon Emergency Service Providers will again be distributing drinking water between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Thursday behind the village hall.
Photo identification will be required to receive one case of drinking water per household.
Separate containers can be brought for non-consumable water.
