FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (KSDK) - You're probably used to mall kiosks trying to sell you something.

There is a new company however, that is setting up locations in local malls looking to do the opposite.

EcoATM has set up kiosks at St. Clair Square and Alton Square Malls that allow users to recycle old cell phone and get paid in the process.

To use the new technology, users let the machine scan your phone and after the machine has analyzed the scan, it gives you a price.

You can then accept or reject the offer.

In order to use the kiosks, users must provide a driver's license and thumb print to prevent people from selling stolen phones.

The company says it re-sells about 40-percent of the phones and melts down the others.
