ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - There's been so much frustration leading up to this sequestration with all the mudslinging and politicking, but nothing getting done.
NewsChannel 5 attempted to contact local lawmakers to hold them accountable for the stalemate in Washington.
We caught up with U.S. Representatives William 'Lacy' Clay and Ann Wagner.
Lawmakers told NewsChannel 5 said the other side is playing the blame game, and each said their party has the better plan.
On Thursday, Senator Claire McCaskill said Congress should take the same 20 percent pay cut that's about to be imposed on federal workers.
"I work every day. I don't want to, but if that happens, I'll have to accept it," Clay said. "I've always lived under the rules and that won't change now."
Said Wagner, "You know what, I think she should too. I think all of us should (take a pay cut)."
Rep. Bill Enyert of Illinois agrees that Congress should not get paid during the sequester.
