EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (KSDK) - A 25-year-old Michigan man has pleaded guilty in federal court in East St. Louis, Illinois to failing to register as a sex offender.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney's Office says Andrew C. Henley was required to register as a sex offender under both Illinois law and the federal Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act because he was convicted for aggravated criminal sexual abuse in Madison County, Illinois in 2005.
He registered with Illinois July 11, 2011, and then traveled to Michigan. He was required to either register in Michigan or update his registration in Illinois within three days of his move, but admitted he failed to do so.
Henely is scheduled to be sentenced July 15 and faces up to 10 years in prison, a fine up to $250,000, and five years of supervised release.
