FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (KSDK) - The Madison County State's Attorney's Office charged a 49-year-old Fairview Heights man for allegedly pointing a rifle at his wife during an argument at their home.

According to Detective James Mason, a spokesman for the Fairview Heights Police Department, officers were responded to a domestic disturbance call at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16 in the 9000 block of Summit Drive.

When police arrived at the scene, officers made contact with a woman, who told them her husband was in the back bedroom with a gun, Mason said. The woman said her husband pointed a .22-caliber rifle at her during an argument and was preventing her from getting help.

The reason for the argument has yet to be established.

During a sweep of the home, officers found a large quantity of marijuana, Mason said.

Morris Aldrich was charged with possession of cannabis, possession of a firearm without an FOID card and possession of firearm ammunition with an FOID card. Aldrich remains jailed on $12,500 bond.

No one was injured in the incident.
