St. Louis, MO (KSDK) -- Recently the City of St. Louis has not been on the positive end of national media lists. The city has been mentioned on such national lists as saddest cities in the country, worst cities for men, and most polluted cities in America.

St. Louis has yet again been placed at the top of another list. However, this ranking is a bit more positive, so cheer up St. Louisans.

The city of St. Louis ranks number one on Kiplinger's 10 Best Cities for Cheapskates List. Kiplinger reports that St. Louis residents earnings fall in line with the rest of the country but their living costs are nine-percent below the national average.

Kiplinger also notes that some of the cities' most popular attractions have little or no charge for admission, such as Forest Park, the St. Louis Zoo and Citygarden.

And when it comes to museums and libraries, St. Louis holds its own against some of the biggest cities in the country. The city has more museums and libraries per capita than larger cities like New York and Washington, D.C.

With the summer months quickly approaching, embrace your new title St. Louis and enjoy all of the cities cheapskate-friendly activities.
