Mount Dhaulagiri, Nepal (NBC) -- A Japanese climber successfully scaled the world's 14 tallest mountains after nearly being killed by an avalanche in 2007.
Hirotaka Takeuchi completed his latest climb in Nepal a couple of weeks ago.
The Nepal Mountaineering Association said he scaled the 26,788 foot high mountain on May 26,
It took him 17 years to complete his mission. He's the 30th person and the first Japanese to accomplish the feat.
