St. Louis (KSDK) - You've obviously heard it's the simple things in life that are the most extraordinary and so is the case for some when it comes to grabbing a beer with friends.
The thing is these three friends, Jake Hafner, Dylan Mosley, and Mike Bianco decided to brew beer instead of simply sipping it.
"This kind of evolved out of home brewing," explained Mosley.
And well things are really starting to heat up for The Civil Life Brewing Company.
"So far so good," he added.
Of course that means they have less time to enjoy their product because they do practically everything around here.
"Like my mom and all of her friends stained everything," Hafner said.
They even make their own tap handles.
"Usually on slow nights in the bar someone will come out and work on them a tap at a time," Mosley added.
Because after less than a year their sudsy concoctions are in almost 50 bars and restaurants.
"Everything we've done here has turned out beyond our expectations really," Mosley humbly said.
That doesn't mean they didn't do their homework. As a matter of fact, Hafner went on seven month field trip.
"A drink-about is what I called it," Hafner pointed out.
So as you look around you'll see what he learned.
"So I had seen this in Spain, but in Spain they had done it just by writing right on the bar," Hafner said referring to the chalkboard on the bar.
"The tables are very german style," Hafner added.
"The two serving windows we have which service the patios are straight out of Bamberg and Munich," Hafner said.
That also means he's saved you a trip and you can just stop by The Civil Life and feel like you're somewhere else. Who knows a conversation over one of their beers might be the start of another small business here in St. Louis.
