The West Washington County School Board pours over the contents of the time capsule.
Okawville, IL (KSDK) - Construction crews in southern Illinois unearthed a decades-old time capsule while working on Okawville High School's new facility.
Holland Construction Services discovered the 74-year-old time capsule in May. The construction company heard about the capsule after a retired barber remembered when the capsule was first placed in the walls of the school in 1938.
On Thursday, the West Washington County School Board opened the capsule to find a little bit of history. The box contained old county newspapers, photos, and even some information about the high school.
The district is currently deciding whether the capsule will be replaced with another.
