Buckingham Palace says the queen's 91-year-old husband, Prince Philip, has been hospitalized as a "precautionary measure" over a recurring bladder infection, the BBC reports.

The Duke of Edinburgh was admitted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary while staying at Balmoral with the queen, the BBC reports, quoting a palace spokeswoman today. There were few additional details.

Update at 1:45 p.m. ET: The BBC reports that he was hospitalized because of the recurrence of a bladder infection that also sent him to hospital in June. The BBC says Philip is likely to be in the hospital "for the next few days."

The BBC's Peter Hunt says he is not thought to be in critical condition.

It is the second time in two months that Philip has been hospitalized. He was admitted to the hospital with a bladder infection in June for five days, forcing him to miss Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee concert.

Philip was diagnosed with heart disease in December after experiencing chest pains that required him to spend Christmas at a hospital, the Associated Press reports.

He underwent a successful coronary stent procedure and seemed to recover well, resuming a full schedule within several weeks, the AP says.
