(CNN) - Justin Bieber has pulled off quite the prank.

On Wednesday, the pop star tweeted that his computer and camera containing "personal footage" had been stolen.

Internet rumors started circulating that the computer contained anything from naked pictures of the singer to a Bieber sex tape.

Later that day, another Twitter user claimed to have the footage and even threatened to release it.

Turns out, the drama was really building up to Bieber's release Friday afternoon of his music video with Nicki Minaj for "Beauty and a Beat."

The music video claims to feature the stolen footage.

Bieber tweeted that he'd been the subject of several false rumors during his stardom but that today he got to "be in on it."
