St. Louis (KSDK) - Charges have been filed in the case of the puppy that was unknowingly dragged down I-55 in November.
Benetta Johnson, 41, has been charged with misdemeanor animal abuse.

The dog had no access to food, water, or shelter, and Johnson did not notify the driver that the dog was tied to the hitch of his truck.
When the driver saw the puppy on the news he thought it resembled the one that he gave to his ex-wife's daughter.
The driver then called investigators who looked at surveillance video showing the ex-wife pull up and a 13-year-old getting out of the vehicle and tying the dog to the hitch.
The man says he did not see the puppy when he got into the truck because the dog had crawled under the vehicle.
He does not believe that this was done on purpose.
Veterinarians say the young pit bull is making a remarkable recovery and should be available for adoption early next year.
