DEARBORN, Mich. (WDIV) - Victory is a 1-year-old Chihuahua mix born with malformed front legs is winning hearts.
"She's got malformed front legs; she was born that way," said Elaine Greene, Executive Director of Friends of the Dearborn Animal Shelter.
But it hasn't stopped the Chihuahua mix from getting around.
That's why the staff at the shelter named her "Victory" when she was dropped off two weeks ago.
"She's very sweet," Greene said. "She's like a little clown. She loves to show off."
It might give you a chuckle to see a dog balancing on two legs, but Greene said it's no laughing matter.
"A dog like this needs protection because when she walks, she's scraping her elbows and it could develop a wound," she said.
The shelter would like to get Victory a sled to help her get around indoors, a set of wheels to help her when she's outside and a vest to protect her paws.
All of it will cost upwards of $2,000, but Greene said if people can help out, maybe one day Victory can help others.
"I'd love it is she could become an occupational therapy dog to help people with similar deformities," Greene said.
