(CNN) - Chris Brown's legal problems aren't over just yet. He's been ordered to return to court in June, after the judge in his probation violation case ruled that lawyers needed more time.

That decision came after a brief hearing Friday in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

At issue is whether the singer legitimately completed the 180 days of community service ordered when he pleaded guilty to beating his girlfriend, Rihanna.

Prosecutors say the paperwork Brown submitted is "at best sloppy" and "at worst fraudulent."

They claim Brown wasn't even in town on some of the dates he reported doing service.

But, Brown's attorney says the prosecutor's filings against his client are fraudulent.

If the judge decides Brown cheated on his probation, he could have to start over with his community service, or he could get some time behind bars.
