ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - More than 2,000 children from military families participated Thursday in Toys Across America, the 10th anniversary celebration of The Toy bank.
Toys Across America distributed toys and games to children in need across the nation. The Toy Bank is a program of the Toy Industry Foundation (TIF), which represents the North American toy industry. Over the last 10 years, more than 10 million kids around the world have received toys from The Toy Bank.
"The Toy Industry Foundation's year-round mission is to ensure that every child is given the opportunity to play," said Jean Butler, executive director of the TIF. "But what's so incredible - so inspiring - about Toys Across America is that it has provided us with a unique occasion to give the empowering gift of play to thousands of children on a single day."
The celebration was put on in conjunction with TIF, Kids in Distressed Situations, and H.E.R.O.E.S. Care.
