USA TODAY - Combative Alec Baldwin may be a new papa but that hasn't made him any sweeter about the paparazzi. Once again, the Blue Jasmine actor is scuffling on the streets of New York with a photographer.

The New York Post and TMZ are reporting, with pictures, that Baldwin and wife Hilaria, who gave birth to their baby daughter on Aug. 23, were walking down a street when they were approached by a unnamed pap. When Hilaria ducked into a tea shop to avoid him, the photographer tried to follow.

Baldwin was not pleased, TMZ said, quoting an unnamed friend of the couple. The pictures show him grabbing the shooter and, in a movie move, locking his arms behind his back. Yoga teacher Hilaria, heading to the tea shop, looks a little alarmed but remarkably slender after just giving birth to baby Carmen.

"What kind of sick twisted psychopath chases a woman who just got out of the hospital from having a baby into a tea store?" the friend told the gossip website.

There was shouting, pushing and shoving. The pap called the cops, who showed up to separate and talk to both. TMZ was quick to note the photographer wasn't one of theirs.

"We spoke to the photog - not a TMZ guy - who tells us he did nothing to provoke Alec," TMZ says. "All I can say is I was doing my job asking him normal questions and he flipped. That's all."

The two beefy guys, who look kind of similar dressed in cargo shorts, T-shirts and trainers, eventually decided not to press charges against the other.

Baldwin, the Emmy-winning star of NBC's now-ended 30 Rock, has an antagonistic relationship with the celebrity paparazzi, who never tire of targeting him in hopes of snapping a picture of the actor in full rant. If his tactic is aimed at persuading them to leave him alone, so far it's not working.

Meanwhile, in California, paparazzi-loathing celebs are pressing the legislature to pass a law that would bar photographers from taking pictures of celebrities' kids without permission, despite the objections of First Amendment advocates. California already has one anti-paparazzi law, but so far it's not working, either.

And so the celebrity-vs-paparazzi conflict continues.
