Fire forces office building evacuation in Clayton

Clayton, Mo. (KSDK) -- An office building has been evacuated in Clayton due to a fire.

The two-alarm fire started at the building at 35 North Central near Maryland around 11:00 a.m.

The fire is at the top of the building.  Firefighters can be seen on the rooftop.

There are no reports of injuries.  Fire Chief Mark Thorp said several floors of the building were affected.  He said the fire started in a hood exhaust system in the building.

Firefighters from neighboring municipalities are also responding to help including St. Louis.

The area, which is usually very busy during the lunch hour, is home to a number of popular eateries in downtown Clayton.
