St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - The results of the Democratic primary in Missouri's 87th State Congressional District cannot be certified because a number of incorrect ballots were given to voters, the St. Louis County Board of Election Commission said Tuesday.

Missouri's 87th State District covers all or part of the following municipalities within St. Louis County: Brentwood, Crystal Lake Park, Creve Coeur, Des Peres, Frontenac, Huntleigh, Ladue, Rock Hill, Town & Country, Warson Woods and Westwood.

Election officials said 102 voters were given the wrong ballots, which affected the outcome of the August 7 primary.

According to Rita Heard Days, director of the election commission, the board has launched its own investigation into how voters were given the wrong ballots and will report its findings to the Missouri Secretary of State's Office. The result of the election will be determined by Missouri Circuit Court, per state law.
