(CNN) - It could be a dream come true for some schoolchildren in France.

President François Hollande said earlier this week he wants to get rid of homework. He says education is a priority and that work should be done at school with teachers, so he also wants to lengthen the school week.

Right now, French students go to school four days a week; Hollande wants it to go back to four and a half.

The president is promising to hire more teachers and give incentives to those willing to work in what he calls difficult areas.

Hollande says these changes would improve educational equality, especially for children who don't have the proper support at home.
