(CNN) - The suspect in the Trayvon Martin murder case is filing a civil lawsuit of his own.
George Zimmerman filed a 24 page complaint Thursday against NBC Universal Media and three NBC employees, citing deceptive and exploitative journalism.
Zimmerman, who is charged with second-degree murder in the February 26, 2012 death of the unarmed Martin, maintains he shot the teen in self-defense.
Now he says NBC portrayed him as a racist and predatory villain to increase ratings. He's also set up a website about his case against NBC.
On it, he writes the site is necessary to counter the avalanche of negative publicity that has defamed his character.
Zimmerman's trial is expected to start next year.
