BOSTON (AP) - The Massachusetts state trooper who leaked arrest photos of the Boston Marathon bombing suspect is going back on patrol.
A state police spokesman confirms that Sgt. Sean Murphy has been assigned the midnight shift in Athol in north-central Massachusetts.
David Procopio says Murphy's assignment last week isn't punishment for the unauthorized release of photos of a bloodied Dzhokhar Tsarnaev (joh-HAHR' tsahr-NEYE'-ehv). That investigation is ongoing.
Murphy leaked the photos in response to what many perceived as a glamorous photo of Tsarnaev on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine.
State police Col. Timothy Alben has said it's unlikely he'll be fired.
Murphy's lawyer Leonard Kesten says his client is on leave with an injury not related to work. Kesten says Murphy hasn't started the new assignment but will be going back to work.
