MILUO CITY, China (CCCTV/CNN) - A man riding a motorcycle was hit by a 40 ton truck last Wednesday in Miluo City of central China's Hunan Province.
As seen from the surveillance video footage, a man on the motorcycle made a sudden stop when the traffic light turned red at a road-crossing, yet a truck traveling at a faster speed hit him from behind before it could come to a halt. He was pushed off his motorbike, however, not overrun.
The truck driver after the collision tended to the man, as passersby called the emergency services. They worked together to push the heavy truck back for some seven meters to free the trapped man. He was later treated at the scene before being taken to a local hospital.
Police officers then quickly cordoned off the area as an investigation into the collision began.
"The injured man has been sent to hospital, so we didn't see him. His relatives have said he is a man in his sixties and probably suffered a broken hand. We can't say for sure whether there are any other injuries, or whether it is severe or minor. Cause of the incident is now under investigation," said a police officer at the scene.
