VATICAN CITY (CNN) - Call him "the cold call pope."
Pope Francis has a habit of calling people going through struggles who write to him, and offering them words of comfort, according to the New York Times, the religious news service and other media reports.
Among the out-of-the-blue calls, he called a pregnant woman who was pressured to have an abortion, and offered to baptize the baby himself.
He also called an Argentinean woman who says she was raped by a police officer.
Vatican officials have denied other calls, saying it appears people are making calls, pretending to be the pope to push their agendas.
