HARMONY, Fla. (WKMG/CNN) - A mother in central Florida is fighting back after her son was suspended from school for using his finger as a fake gun.
Bonnie Bennett says it happened during a game of "cops and robbers" with another student. A school representative says the boy's actions violated the code of student conduct and that's why he was suspended.
Now, Bennett is speaking out.
"There was actually nothing in his hand; he used his thumb and his index finger," said Bennett. "It was a game, he made no threatening advances to another child, didn't threaten to harm anyone, no words were said. I'm prepared to go to court if I have to, because this is wrong. It's wrong for my son and it's wrong for any other child, if they are faced with the same thing, for a game."
Bennett says she hopes the principal will remove suspension from her son's school record.
