St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - The St. Louis Blues are trading defenseman-and team captain-Eric Brewer to the Tampa Bay Lightning, NewsChannel 5 has learned.

Brewer, who was named Blues captain in 2008, waived his no-trade clause for the team to make the move. Drafted by the New York Islanders in 1997, Brewer spent six seasons in St. Louis following a trade with the Edmonton Oilers.

Brewer, 31, has scored eight goals and six assists this season.

The St. Louis Blues will acquire the rights to the Lightning's unsigned draft choice Brock Beukeboom and a third round draft pick in the 2011 NHL Draft.

Beukeboom, 20, has dressed in 44 games for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League this season.
