Sunset Hills, MO (KSDK) - Volunteers came together Tuesday night to raise money for local tornado survivors. The fundraiser was a benefit for Sunset Hills storm victims. Tuesday's benefit included a final four basketball doubleheader at Lindbergh High School.

A fundraising event for storm victims was sponsored by O'Learys restaurant. The Sunset Hills benefit included Mehlville firefighters taking on police officers from two local departments.

Sunset Hills residents who suffered damages three months ago say fundraising efforts come amid a challenging time for the community. Storm victims said the recovery from the devastating storms has been slow and a roller coaster ride of emotions.

"Im not sure I think we are just going to fix it up but for now but I have heard there are companies that are trying to buy us out and stuff so we will just see how that goes," said resident John Tyra.

Some residents have been forced to demolish their homes and rebuild.

"Oh, it's been overwhelming and you have good days and bad day," said resident Ann McMunn.
