Columbia, IL (KSDK) - The Colemans' former neighbors are eagerly awaiting a verdict.

"Everybody's been anticipating it and I don't believe anyone's going to be able to sleep until they figure out what's going on," said Nicole Pennington.

For those who live in this Columbia neighborhood, it will be one more sleepless night, as the jury in the Coleman case has yet to reach a verdict.

"It's been a long two years and probably for everybody around here," Pennington said. "We've been waiting patiently just to see what's going to happen so everyone can move forward after this point."

There are constant reminders of what happened here. The house where the triple murder occurred stands empty. Small bits of crime tape are still attached to it. And then there's the memorial: two benches and a tree in honor of victims Sheri, Garrett and Gavin.

And while residents here have tried to put it out of their minds, the trial has brought all those memories back.

"It's become a topic of conversation again. For a while there was no topic, until the trial started obviously and now it's back on again as hey what's going to happen, how's it going to end? Let's put some closure to it," said neighbor Mike Darnell.

They're hoping a verdict about the guilt or innocence of Chris Coleman will bring that and soon.

"I think everyone around here will be glad when it's done and people will stop talking about it and we can move on," Darnell said.
