(The Chirp) -- So far no official team confirmation regarding a new contract between the Cardinals and three time All Star, catcher Yadier Molina.
CBS Sports reported this morning that the two sides have agreed to terms on a multiyear extension worth $75 million over five years.
So far, the Cardinals have not confirmed or commented on the reports.
Molina is in the final year of his current contract. Last week in Jupiter he told reporters that he was willing to continue negotiations this spring and that he "would like to work something out and try to stay" in St. Louis.
His current contract has Molina earning $7 million in 2012. This current deal was signed and announced prior to the Winter Warm Up in 2008.
During the 2011 World Championship season, Molina exploded offensively, leading the team with a .305 batting average, and he started more games behind the plate than any catcher in the National League.
