Villa Ridge, MO (KSDK) - The Franklin County Drug Task Force is assisting the county sheriff's department in the investigation of a five-month-old child's death.
The child, identified as Mike Kibbons, was removed from a mobile home located on Sleepy Hollow Trailer Court in Villa Ridge, according to Sheriff Gary Toelke.
Deputies found the boy unresponsive and administered CPR until he could be transported to Mercy Hospital in Washington. The child was pronounced dead a short time later.
According to the boy's mother, she had fallen asleep on the couch and the father had fallen asleep with the child in his arms. When she awoke, the woman said she noticed the child was not breathing.
Toelke said there were no signs of trauma and the exact cause of death is not known. The St. Louis County Medical Examiner's Office has been contacted to perform an autopsy.
When the child was taken from the home, family members secured the residence and would not allow deputies to enter, Toelke said. Authorities obtained a search warrant based on possible prior drug activity at the home.
Toelke said there is no connection between that information and the child's death.
