East St. Louis, IL (KSDK) - A 44-year-old St. Charles man was sentenced Friday to 30 months imprisonment for his role in operating a mobile meth lab, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois Stephen Wigginton said.
According to court documents, Fairmont City police officers were contacted on April 26, 2010 about a suspicious man near an RV on Thomas Avenue. Police made contact with the man, identified as Dennis Vehlewald, who admitted he was wanted on a parole violation in Missouri.
Vehlewald told police he was in the process of purchasing the RV, but authorities learned he'd already bought the vehicle.
Police searched the RV and found drug paraphernalia and an active methamphetamine laboratory.
Dennis Vehlewald pleaded guilty on January 18, 2012 to manufacturing and possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine.
